Hard to estimate the amount of influence Ennio Morricone has had on me. For one, THE THING is and probably always will be my favorite movie soundtrack. Second, “Magic and Ecstasy” from EXORCIST II is still a deep and long lasting favorite. And while his work has always been solid if not compelling, some of his experimental work has been unsurpassed by anyone at any time, in my eyes. There are very few composers whose movies I will watch just for the soundtrack, and Morricone is at the top of the list. R. I. P. !
