I wouldn't recommend throwing curses and love spells willy nilly, and that is one of the flaws I find in LaVey's presentation, to the degree that his Barnumesque showmanship nullifies any sincere elements of his philosophy. it doesn't help that many of the people who think they can speak for him are saying that he didn't believe in magic at all. I wouldn't recommend calling on Belial for any reason, and maybe that had to do with LaVey himself, who I'm told did not have a great go of it in the 80s and 90s financially or domestically. The black church should be a museum. Instead it was knocked down due to the fact that it was considered uninhabitable, to be replaced with a goofy looking condo. Sad.
