BLOOD RHYTHMS — “ROTE”

Frankly, all of this was completed while I was taking mushrooms every day (I found them in a bush I swear!). As a person who has meditated twice a day since 2011 (I have only missed 126 meditations), and as a person who was certified as a hypnotherapist, I hate synthetic sunshine seagull gong music bullshit. I hate these faddist new age suburban bullshit artists. I’m sorry, I’ve got a newsflash: Enya sucks!

I find it insulting that several perfectly intelligent people try to put this crap in the background for hypnosis and guided meditation. You’re not stupid. You need more than some fake ass ocean breeze sound effect on someone’s keyboard. Daniel Burke (Illusion of Safety) and I had a long conversation about this one time, and we basically agree. There is a track here with his synthesizer work, specifically I believe it was a “synthi”, but I don’t know anything about electronics.

That said, I like plenty of ambient and drone music, and especially just repetitive sounds. I like really loud, abrasive, repetitive sounds. For a while, every day, I would take a few stems and do tracks like these. I did three full-length releases (close to 70 minutes each) that way. “The Universe Spilling Out Of A Spider’s Womb” is another one. The third one, “Sanguine” will be part of a box set that is so ambitious, I’ll be shocked if it comes out while I’m alive. And by the way, it got me out of a creative rut, and was extremely therapeutic, not for hallucinogenic purposes really. I definitely advocate for its legalization. It was also nice to just step to the wheel and not even consider anything resembling “composition”, even if my stuff was mighty repetitive before.

Any way, Uncle Arvo would never steer you wrong, and while I’m tired of the term “trance-inducing”, it is sort of accurate here for people who are apt to it. It’s my take on things that might take you there. I created it on mushrooms, I listened to it on mushrooms (as well as sober, many times now). 100% FDA Approved. That said, it’s not for everybody. Definitely not recommended for hypnosis.

Some people will think I’m trying to hurt them with some of these sounds. I don’t even know of the type of breed that would also get this, but I believe they’re out there. Some people say they don’t know how to meditate or they can’t figure out how to meditate and sit still, etc. Listen to the last track all the way at full volume in headphones without pausing it. Don’t leave your seat and don’t open your eyes. That’s it. Don’t worry about the happy place or following the river, etc. just sit. Presto!

Art (xerox, no computers) by the extremely talented Bradley Kokay, whose belongings, and decades of art tragically perished in a fire that just happened to occur during the recent forest fires of California and Oregon. He doesn’t have any kickstarter or patreon etc that I know of, and I’m trying to talk him into it. One could donate some money to him on facebook, if one were so inclined, I suppose.
